Meetings with artists
Meetings with artists
In post-war Poland MPiK Clubs were practically the only places where Poles, thirsty for culture and knowledge from the world , could read international press. With time, empiks became also the spot to meet famous Polish artists from the world of literature, film, cabaret or music and theatre. Empiks also organised periodical and occasional events, and empik coffee bars and reading rooms became a very popular meeting place.
Empik cares about its tradition as a cultural institution – it is not only a selling point, but also a place to promote culture. Empik offers a unique possibility to experience “live culture” in all its expressions and forms and empik's stages regularly hold events for people with all tastes and interests: meetings with authors and poets, thematic conferences, workshops (music, multimedia), film screenings, concerts, recitals of young, promising musicians and world famous artists, painting exhibitions, presentations of small theatrical forms.
Empik Group intends to further actively promote a wide spectrum of culture and to introduce new forms of cultural events, including happenings.
We care
We invite for cooperation aspiring artists (writers, musicians, film-makers) and well-known authors: those addressing their works to a narrow audience, those who look for new forms of expression, and those who sell bestsellers. Through organisation of cultural events (in different, original forms) we wish to draw attention to works that have high artistic and intellectual value, are both interesting and worth recommendation.
Together with artists and publishers (both small independent companies and large publishing houses) we want to stimulate culture on local markets and be a Cultural Centre open to everyone.
